Its unique Phantom Lock™ mechanism is reminiscent of traditional “scale-release” folders and is operated by rotating the butt ends of the handle halves in opposite directions. This stunning Sprint Run expression of the Meerkat revives this clever design and makes it even more distinctive with a blade crafted from Carpenter® Technology’s Micro-Melt PD#1. This air-hardening, cold-work die steel is specially formulated to offer both superior wear resistance and toughness. Its properties are further enhanced by the CarTech® Micro-Melt powder metal process, which ensures an extremely fine, homogenous microstructure. The full-flat-ground PlainEdge blade of this elite knife is cloaked in a non-reflective titanium carbonitride (TiCN) coating and its fiberglass-reinforced-nylon (FRN) handle scales are injection molded in a deep burgundy color. True to this dramatic black-and-burgundy theme, the knife’s reversible, tipdown, deep-pocket wire clip, full stainless steel liners, and handle hardware also sport durable black coatings.
